The Thicklip Grey Mullet (Chelon labrosus) is a marine (saltwater) coastal fish in the Mugilidae family.
The Thicklip Grey Mullet has a thick upper lip. It has silvery-grey scales.
It grows to about 32 centimetres (13 inches) long.
The Thicklip Grey Mullet is native to the north-eastern waters of the Atlantic Ocean, including the Mediterranean Sea and the south-western Black Sea. It is partially migratory, swimming northwards in summer.
It preferes shallow waters in sheltered coasts, estuaries and around sewerage outlets. It can also enter fresh water areas.
It feeds mainly on algae, detritus, and small invertebrates.
The female lays eggs in winter.
