The European Brown Bear (Ursus arctos arctos) is a mammal in the Ursidae family of brown bears. It is the smallest in the brown bear family. It is also known as the Eurasian Brown Bear. Other brown bear family members are the Grizzly Bear and the Kodiak Bear.
The European Brown Bear has a strong, stocky body. It has dense brown fur. It has a round head, wide skull, small ears, and a mouth with 42 sharp teeth. It also has large, powerful paws with long, sharp claws.

The European Brown Bear can grow to 250 centimetres (98 inches) tall. Its claws measure 10 centimetres (4 inches) long.
The European Brown Bear is an omnivore. It is the largest omnivorous mammal in the world. In the wild, it has a varied diet, ranging from grasses, herbs, roots, berries, and nuts, as well as insects, mammals, and fish.
It is native to Siberia and Europe.
The female European Brown Bear is pregnant for 180-266 days, before giving birth to one live young, called a cub.
It can live, on average, for 25-30 years.
