The Black Spot Piranha (Pygocentrus cariba) is an omnivorous freshwater fish in the Serrasalmidae family of serrated fish. It is a serrasalmid. 

The Black Spot Piranha is silvery-grey with black markings and yellowish gills. It has a small mouth with a single row of sharp, serrated, triangular, interlocking teeth. Its bite power is very strong. It has an oval-shaped body with a flattened face and large forehead.

How does a Python eat? 

The jaws of a python are not like a human’s jaws. Humans cannot open their mouth very wide, but a python can.

The jaws of a python are extremely flexible because they are not fused together and they are not connected to the back of its mouth. 

A python can open its jaws so wide that it can eat a medium-sized animal whole – such as a deer, antelope, pig, cat, or dog.

Snapping Turtle

The Snapping Turtle (Chelydra serpentine) is a freshwater, aquatic reptile. It is also known as the Snapper or the Common Snapping Turtle. 

The Snapping Turtle has powerful beak-like jaws. It has a slightly domed, serrated-edged (saw-toothed) upper shell, called a carapace. The lower shell, called the plastron, is narrower than the upper shell. It has a long tail – as long as the upper shell – and a long, snake-like neck. It is mostly greyish-brown. It has stumpy legs with claws, and webbing between the claws, which enable it to walk on land and swim in water. It does not have flippers like the sea turtle.

Striped Hyena

The Striped Hyena (Hyaena hyaena) is a viverrid mammal.

The Striped Hyena has brown-grey coarse long fur, shorter in summer, with four dark vertical stripes and rows of spots along its sides. It has a mane of hair running along its back. It has a strong body with short legs. Its hind legs (back legs) are shorter than its fore legs (front legs), which makes its back slope downwards.

It has a large head with small dark eyes and a dark grey-brown nose. It has large black pointed ears. It has a short black-tipped tail. It has extremely strong jaws.

Palm Cockatoo

The Palm Cockatoo (Probosciger aterrimus) is a large parrot from New Guinea and a small area of northern Australia. It is also known as the Goliath Cockatoo or Great Black Cockatoo. Probosciger means long, thin nose.

The Palm Cockatoo is grey-black with red cheeks that can change colour when it is frightened or excited. It has a very large grey beak. It has the second largest beak of all parrots in the world (the Hyacinth Macaw has the largest beak). The top mandible (jaw) and the bottom mandible do not meet. It has a large crest. It has black feet and large black claws. It has black eyes.

Spotted Hyena

The Spotted Hyena (Crocuta crocuta) is a scavenging carnivorous African mammal.

It has a large head, sloping back, thick neck, and powerful jaws. Its front legs are longer than its back legs. Its fur is rough with a yellow-brown colour with spots. Its ears are round. Their feet have four toes with non-retractable claws.

They grow to about (28-35 inches) tall.

The hyena has the strongest bite of any mammal. It is a carnivore – a meat eater – and its strong jaws enable it to eat bones.

The Red Piranha (Pygocentrus nattereri) is an omnivorous freshwater fish in the Serrasalmidae family of serrated fish. It is a serrasalmid. It is also known as the Red-Bellied Piranha.

The adult Red Piranha has a reddish tinge on it belly. The rest of its body is silver grey. It has a small mouth with a single row of sharp, serrated, triangular, interlocking teeth. Its bite power is very strong. Its strong jaws and saw-like teeth are excellent for tearing the flesh off animals. It is oval-shaped with a flattened face and large forehead.
