Which animal was domesticated first – the cat or the dog?

Domesticated animals are those that have been tamed and bred by humans. Humans began keeping animals as companion pets (such as cats and dogs), work animals (such as horses, donkeys, and camels to carry things), and livestock (such as cattle, sheep, pigs, and goats for food and skin, fur, or wool). 

It is not easy to tell exactly when different species of animals were domesticated. Domestication occurred gradually, so there is no exact moment in history.

How long do bird eggs take to hatch?

Different bird species lay different sized eggs. Large birds lay larger eggs than smaller birds.

The chicks of larger bird species usually take longer to hatch than the chicks of smaller bird species.

The Ostrich is the the largest bird in the world and its egg is the largest bird egg in the world. It measures about 15 centimetres (6 inches) long. The egg takes about 35-45 days to hatch.

The Brahma Chicken (Gallus gallus domesticus) is a large, fancy breed of domestic fowl.

The Brahma Chicken, originally from Asia, is brown with black tail feathers, although the colour can vary. The colour varieties are buff, light, or dark. The light Brahma Chickens have a lot of white feathers with black neck feathers, called hackles. The dark Brahma Chickens are dark grey. Buff Brahma Chickens are a golden brown colour.
