What is a crevice? Why do small animals like crevices?
A crevice is a narrow opening, such as in a rock or stone or cliff face. It is also a narrow opening in an object or between two objects. It is usually caused by a split or crack.

Small animals like crevices because they can hide in them. A predator finds it difficult to get its prey if it is hidden in a crevice. Small animals also like to hide their young in a crevice.
