A dead fly lies on its back.
A dead insect is usually found on its back. And many other animals and humans too.
A fly can die due to insecticides, cold weather, old age, injury, lack of food or water, or a range of other reasons.

When a fly is dying it falls to the ground.
A healthy fly can roll over, if it falls on its back, and it can right itself.
A weak fly lacks coordination due to a poor nervous system and it cannot roll or flip over, and it eventually dies.
