What is a crest?
A crest is a long tuft of feather or hair on the head or back of an animal, especially a bird. A crest forms a peak that can be raised up and down, or permanently erect.
On a bird, the tuft is called crest feathers. The feathers are semi-plume feathers, meaning that they are soft and bendable.
