What is sexual dimorphism?

When the male and the female of the same species look different in size, weight, colour, and markings, it is called dimorphism.

For example, the male peafowl, called a peacock, looks very different from the female peafowl, called a peahen.

Other examples are the male and female Mallard Duck, and the male and female Mandarin Duck.
