Crustacean

What is a crustacean?

A crustacean is an arthropod with a hard exo-skeleton, called a carapace.

A crustacean includes the crab, lobster, crayfish, shrimp, prawn, krill, woodlouse, sandhopper, and barnacle.

Most crustaceans are aquatic, living in freshwater and saltwater. There are some terrestrial (land) crustaceans, including woodlice and land crabs.

A crustacean has 10 legs, so it is a decapod.

A female crustacean lays eggs. The eggs hatch into larvae. The larvae grow and develop into adult crustaceans.
