Horse Hoof

A horse is an ungulate (hoofed) mammal.

The horse is an odd-toed ungulate, with a hoof that has one toe.

The hoof is not stiff and rigid. The hoof is elastic and flexible.

The hoof is a complex structure. It has an outer part (the hoof capsule) and an inner part (soft tissue and bone). The lower surface of the hoof, called the sole, is covered with keratin.
