Bala Shark

The Bala Shark (Balantiocheilos melanopterus) is a freshwater fish in the Cyprinidae family. It is not a true shark. It is also known as the Tricolour Shark, the Tricolour Sharkminnow, or the Silver Shark. 

The Bala Shark has a body shape similar to a shark, with a torpedo body and large fins. It is silver with black margins on all of its fins. It has big eyes. 

It grows to about 35 centimetres (14 inches) in length.

The Bala Shark is native to the Asian waters of Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, and Borneo. It swims in rivers and lakes. 

It feeds on crabs, lobsters, shrimp, insects and insect larvae.
