What do the wings of a bat look like?
A bat has flexible wings, that are more flexible than a bird’s wings.
A bat’s wings have a similar structure to a human’s hand, except that the digits (fingers) are longer and bats have a thin membrane of skin, called the patagium, between the fingers.
This enables the bat to move its wings like hands. Its thumbs extend out of the wings and are small claws, which are used to help it climb trees.
A bat’s wing is very maneuverable, changing shapes and changing angle and direction of flight very quickly. It means that the bat can move in the air quickly, changing direction, and diving onto its prey.
