What is a scavenger?
Scavengers are animals that feed on the meat of dead animals (carrion). Many carnivores are scavengers. Scavengers are also predators.
Scavengers include vultures, hyenas, and jackals.

Lions, leopards, wolves, and wild dogs will scavenge sometimes, especially when live food is limited.
Other scavengers include beetles, blowflies, opossums, polecats, foxes, raccoons, and some birds, such as crows, and marabou.
Animals that feed on dead plants are also scavengers. They are herbivorous scavengers. Plant scavengers include termites.
