You’ve got a hide! What does it mean if you have a hide?
Hide is the tough, leathery skin of some animals that is, or was, used by humans, such as the skin of rhinoceros, cattle, alligators, crocodiles, and so on.
If you have a hide, you have tough skin. You are not easily offended and not easily upset. You are not upset by criticism. You are tough.
It can also mean that you are a bit cheeky.
He had a hide saying that – this means that he was a bit cheeky to say that.
They have the hide of a rhinoceros – this means that they have a tough exterior.
