Ostrich eggs are the largest of all bird eggs, relative to the size of the adult female.
Ostrich eggs are shiny and cream-coloured with a thick shell that has small dents all over it.
Ostrich eggs are about 15 centimetres (6 inches) long by 13 centimetres (5 inches) wide, which is 3 times the size of a chicken’s egg. Chicken eggs range from 5-6 centimetres (2 inches) long by 4-4.5 centimetres (1.5 inches) wide.
Ostrich eggs weigh about 1.4 kilograms (3 pounds), which is more than 20 times the weight of a chicken’s egg.
