The Australorp is an Australian breed of chicken. It is also called the Australian Black Orpington.
The Australorp has various colours, such as black (with an iridescent green sheen), blue, or white. Black is the most common colour.
The Australorp has two sizes: the small bantam and the standard size.
It is bred as an egg-laying chicken. Breeders estimate that one hen can lay about 250 light-brown eggs in a year.
