Long-Tailed Fiscal Shrike

The Long-Tailed Fiscal Shrike (Lanius cabanisi) is a bird from Somalia, Kenya, and Tanzania in east Africa.

The Long-Tailed Fiscal Shrike has black upperparts and white underparts. It has a grey-brown back, with a medium-length tail and white outer tail feathers. It has a black crown and face.

It grows to 30 centimetres (12 inches) long.

The Long-Tailed Fiscal Shrike likes woodlands and grasslands, near damp areas.

It feeds on insects, frogs, lizards, chameleons, small snakes and even small birds.

A pair of shrikes make their nest of roots, bark, and twigs. Females lay 3-4 eggs.
