It can grow to 40-60 centimetres (16-24 inches) long.

It prefers the cooler rainforest climate of Mt Kenya. It is arboreal, which means that it lives in trees, where it is well camoflauged.

It eats frogs, mice, rats, and small birds.

Females produce live young, not eggs, of about 10-13 at a time. The snakelets are about 17 centimetres (7 inches) long.
