Why are snakes classified as tetrapods?

Reptiles are tetrapods, which means that they have four legs.

Snakes are reptiles, but they don’t have four legs.

They don’t have any legs.

Zoologists and taxonomists classified snakes as reptiles, because many years ago snakes had legs.

Their ancestors had four legs – they were tetrapods.
